Blacksmith School – Letter Opener Experience
Monday-Friday, all activities are available but only one item taught per class for the four participants.

Description
Participants learn the techniques of forging while crafting their very own “Letter Opener.” Under the guidance of our skilled blacksmith, they’ll learn several essential blacksmithing skills including: Forge set up, parts of the anvil, hammer technique, forging, blade profiling, twisting, drawing, tapering, and rolling a ring. When finished they’ll leave with a steel creation they hand forged, hand hammered into a unique piece of functional art.
Inclusions:
- PPE (glasses, ear protection), ice water, and all necessary tools and materials for their chosen project.
Check-in time & location:
8am-12 noon and 1-5 pm. Please arrive ten minutes prior. Meet at 201 Kaupoku loop, at the Central Maui Baseyard on Veterans Highway between Kahului and Kihei.Parking on shoulder (not on asphalt road).
Participant Restrictions:
8 years and older. Our minimum age is not final, some young people are more capable, I’ll leave this to the parents to decide. At booking we ask for height, handedness (left or right), and if they wear glasses. We will custom tailor the project to the participant’s abilities. Recent injuries, surgeries, or late stage pregnancies should be avoided.
CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS:
We need all guests to wear closed toe shoes, cotton clothes / t-shirt and cotton pants / jeans. No polyester or other synthetic material allowed. We supply ear plugs and safety glasses, water, ice and coolers. We do suggest some hydrating electrolyte drinks like Gatorade or vitamin water prior to the experience.
